Description: Michael Caplan, president and co-founder of OR Music, talks about what it takes to run an independent record label. He discusses how his Indie label has major label tastes in terms of radio play and getting retail space, which costs a lot of money. Michael then explains the difficulties with press lead up and creating demand for an album. He also talks about new technology in terms of making records, because the technology allows the label to create records more quickly and at a lower cost. Michael then discusses music videos and how there are more outlets online available instead of relying on mainstream television. He concludes with his analysis on how the music industry is changing and how he believes the problems with new technology should be dealt with.
