Music Industry Profile: Music Editor Dan Carlin


Dan Carlin is an Emmy-winning music editor, Emmy-nominated music director, and was the music supervisor and principal conductor on two Golden Globe-nominated film-scores. He was co-founder and CEO of Segue Music, the largest and most successful music post-production business in Hollywood history. Chair Emeritus of the Recording Academy (the GRAMMY organization), Dan served over 20 years on the Motion Picture Academy's Music Branch Executive Committee. He has been a juror for both the Television Academy and the Irish Film & Television Awards; helped design, fund, and develop the composer program at the Sundance Institute; created and sponsored the first internship program at The Berklee College of Music; helped design and establish the UCLA Film-Scoring Program; was the Executive Director of the Henry Mancini Institute, and consults for the ASCAP Film Composer's Workshop. A passionate advocate for music education, Dan is a frequent contributor to panels, seminars and lectures.
