Debbie Cavalier
Debbie Cavalier is the Dean of Continuing Education at Berklee College of Music's online extension school, Berkleemusic. Cavalier leads the development of Berklee's award-winning distance learning courses and is a frequent speaker at national distance learning conferences. A trained musician, seasoned publishing professional, and music educator, Cavalier has produced many educational publications and instructional DVDs for Berklee Press and Warner Bros. Publications. A prolific author, Cavalier has penned over one hundred music education publications and arrangements. Cavalier graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music, holds Master's degree in Education from Cambridge College, and continues to further her studies in business and distance learning. She is also an active children's music artist with Debbie and Friends.

Description: Debbie Cavalier, Dean of Continuing Education at Berklee College of Music, converses with Berklee’s Dean of the Performance Division Matt Marvuglio about music education and the online distance learning program at Berklee. They discuss the challenges and advantages that come from teaching music online, and some of the technologies and techniques that have made Berklee’s program a success. Cavalier also discusses the state of traditional classroom music education and offers pointers, advice and resources to young music educators who are still developing their skills. Finally, she speaks about her own involvement in children’s music and children’s music education.
