Description: Music critic and teacher Mike Harris offers a detailed description of the course he teaches at Columbia College Chicago, explaining how it began twelve years ago as a class on the music press, and has since become a broader examination of all the cultural elements that impact the music business. He also discusses how his class complements the rest of the courses offered at Columbia College, and how it addresses the question of what makes music unique as both an art form and as a business.
