Loyola Student Interview: Kevin Coogan of Stella Management on Managing a Classical Composer
Kevin Coogan
Kevin Coogan is a 20-year veteran of the music industry and a graduate of Loyola University, New Orleans. Initially working for Cashbox magazine and MCA Records, he eventually left the corporate music world to pursue a career in artist management. In the course of his management career he has worked with artists and with composers, and has also produced workshops with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers). He currently heads Stella Management, and has two film composing clients–husband and wife Eric Whitacre and Hila Plitmann. |

Description: Loyola student Meredith Arnold speaks with Kevin Coogan of Stella Management on the differences between managing a rock band and managing a classical composer. Coogan expresses his satisfaction in working with adults in the classical world, versus having to “parent” young rock bands. He also shares his optimism about the future of independent music.
