Jazz pianist Jesse McBride is a graduate of the University of New Orleans' (UNO) music program, where he studied under Ellis Marsalis, Peter Martin, and Doug Bickel. Jesse has performed with Donald Harrison, Jason and Delfeayo Marsalis, Harold Battiste, Alvin Batiste, Stefon Harris, Carmen Lundy, Vanessa Rubin, Wess Anderson, Tim Warfield, Hannibal, and many other jazz luminaries. He is currently leading the direction of The Next Generation, a project founded by Harold Battiste and whose focus is on the second 50 years of New Orleans jazz. |

Description: McBride uses recordings by vocalist Sarah Vaughan to demonstrate what can be learned by listening to jazz singers, explaining the ways in which any jazz musician can achieve unique phrasing and surprising interpretations of standard tunes by adopting vocal techniques to their playing.
