A world-renowned composer and improvisational musician, he has written and performed music in every genre from jazz and free improvisation to contemporary classical, blues, Indian and electronic.

Robert Dick of New York University's Steinhart School discusses Jimi Hendrix as a major musical influence of his, and demonstrates the "glissando headjoint," a custom flute headjoint he invented to allow flutists to achieve electric guitar-like whammy bar effects with their instrument.
