Mathieu Drouin: Equator is a work in progress. It is a number of things. I mean at the base of it it’s an artist management company, a record label, and a music publishing company, set up as three separate divisions. We have distribution in Canada and the US. And are working out our international distribution right now. It’s a brand new company.
But to conceptually, it’s more of an independent record company that – we tend to think the future of the music business is centered more around being partners with artists in all aspects of their careers. As opposed to just being the record company or just being the publisher or just being an artist manager.
But that being said, you can’t do that by cumulating the typical way of doing things in the industry ‘cause it’s wrought with conflict of interest and double dipping. And you just can’t say I’m the publisher, the manager, and the record company. You need to reinvent the wheel.
So exactly what it’s going to end up being, I don’t know. We don’t know exactly. But at the base of it, that’s what it is: a record company, a management company, and a publishing company, from a structural standpoint. But conceptually a company and a business that aims to partner with artists in all aspects of their careers and work towards long-term career development.
Francoise: A big family.
Mathieu Drouin: Yeah.
Francoise: Pretty much.
