Description:

Jonathan Haas from NYU talks about what to expect when entering the music field and gives advice on what it takes to pursue music in school. He discusses the importance of parents that support their children that want to pursue the music field. He explains that there are live auditions at NYU to help students decide whether it is the right or wrong place for them to be. Also in this segment, Mr. Haas covers his teaching and rehearsal schedule and his practice schedule. He discusses training his students and compares musical training to the training a top athletic coach gives a top athletic contender. Training involves repetition, building muscle and motor skills, and is a slow, methodical process.
