Jesse McBride
Jazz pianist Jesse McBride is a graduate of the University of New Orleans' (UNO) music program, where he studied under Ellis Marsalis, Peter Martin, and Doug Bickel. Jesse has performed with Donald Harrison, Jason and Delfeayo Marsalis, Harold Battiste, Alvin Batiste, Stefon Harris, Carmen Lundy, Vanessa Rubin, Wess Anderson, Tim Warfield, Hannibal, and many other jazz luminaries. He is currently leading the direction of The Next Generation, a project founded by Harold Battiste and whose focus is on the second 50 years of New Orleans jazz.

Description:

This master class by jazz pianist Jesse McBride takes place at Loyola University, New Orleans, and focuses on techniques that jazz musicians can implement to add depth and character to their playing, regardless of the instrument. Topics include understanding basic song structure, working with a bandleader, tips for practicing effectively, and learning from other musicians. Several students join McBride to demonstrate different ways to interpret standard tunes.
