Conductor and composer Michael Adelson is a Staff Conductor for the New York Philharmonic and Conductor of the Boston-based Auros Group for New Music. A dedicated advocate for new music, he regularly leads workshops in orchestral technique for young musicians and conducts young people’s concerts worldwide.

Description:

Renowned conductor Michael Adelson leads a conducting master class at New York University. He supervises guest conductor Don Christensen of Edward R. Murrow High School (Brooklyn, NY) as he leads the New York All-City Orchestra through a rehearsal of the Overture to Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and offers advice on how to achieve unity of sound in your ensemble, tips on beginning a piece, and how to conduct rests and anticipatory beats effectively.
