Neighboring Rights

Neighboring RightsPaul Rogers, a representative for Fintage House Entertainment, talks about neighboring rights. He explains that Fintage House has built a fantastic business in the collection of monies for performing artists. The United States doesn't have this because they didn't sign the Rome Convention. Rogers covers digital performing rights with XM Satellite Radio and web casting as well. Also in this segment, Rogers discusses the significance of radio play in Europe. More and more Canadian and American artists are qualifying for performance monies. Robbert Aarts, Co-CEO of Fintage House Entertainment based in the Netherlands, talks about how Fintage House offers the artist a complete package. Since their package is much more comprehensive than others, it is a big attraction for clients. For instance, Fintage House offers the collection of music publishing rights and allows artists to keep their copyrights. Aarts also points out that they collect all sorts of rights.
