As one of the inventors of the electronic drum pad, the MIDI standard, and the PC-readable audio compact disc, David Kusek has done as much as anyone to shape the state of the art of electronic and recorded music today. An Associate Professor at the Berklee College of Music, Kusek runs the Berklee Press and is one of the developers of Berkleemusic.com, the Collegeâ€™s online and interactive-learning initiative. He is currently writing a book on the â€śfuture of the music business.â€ť
Debbie Cavalier is the Dean of Continuing Education at Berklee College of Music's online extension school, Berkleemusic. Cavalier leads the development of Berklee's award-winning distance learning courses and is a frequent speaker at national distance learning conferences. A trained musician, seasoned publishing professional, and music educator, Cavalier has produced many educational publications and instructional DVDs for Berklee Press and Warner Bros. Publications. A prolific author, Cavalier has penned over one hundred music education publications and arrangements. Cavalier graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music, holds Master's degree in Education from Cambridge College, and continues to further her studies in business and distance learning. She is also an active children's music artist with Debbie and Friends.
Musician, educator, and consultant Mike King is a veteran of several prominent independent record labels and has over 10 years' marketing, project management, and artist development experience in the music industry. Mike is the managing editor and directs the marketing efforts for Artists House Music. He also authors and leads several online marketing and technology courses for CNET, and is a contributing writer for Making Music magazine. He currently lives in Cambridge, MA and serves as Marketing Communications Manager for Berkleemusic, the online extension school of Berklee College of Music.
Jonathan Feist is the managing editor of Berklee Press, based in Boston, MA. He is also the series editor of The Berklee Practice Method, co-author of its Teacher's Guide, and editor of over 100 other books and online courses about music, technology, business, and culture. He teaches music online at Berkleemusic.com, the online learning division of The Berklee College of Music. Feist holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in composition from The New England Conservatory of Music.
Stefani Langol is a music educator, clinician, author, and consultant. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Music Education at Berklee College of Music, and is also the departmentâ€™s technology coordinator. Langol is a member of the Technology Institute for Music Educators (TI:ME) Advisory Board and from 1997-2004, served as editor-in-chief of the organizationâ€™s newsletter.
Songwriter and educator Jimmy Kachulis teaches songwriting and lyric writing at Berklee College of Music, where he has trained thousands of songwriters, including several Grammy nominees. Jimmy is an accomplished composer, arranger and conductor himself. He has worked with artists such as George Coleman, Jon Hendricks, Eric Gale, John Lewis, and Martha Reeves. His compositions and scores have been featured on television shows like The Sopranos and Touched by An Angel.
Matt Marvuglio is Dean of the Performance Division at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. A virtuoso flutist and composer, he has traveled throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan, premiering his compositions for jazz flute. He has presented clinics for the National Flute Association, the Acoustic Society of America, and the International Flute Convention in SĂŁo Paulo, Brazil. He also teaches basic improvisation and ear training in Berklee's online extension school, Berkleemusic.com.
Liam McCormack is a Songwriting major and an Electric Bass Principal at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. While balancing his music studies at Berklee with his Marketing Assistant position at Berkleemusic, Liam gigs regularly around the New England area with his dynamic pop/rock band, Fly Upright Kite. Fly Upright Kite blends heartfelt lyrics with well-crafted pop melodies and the driving nature of the guitar with the sincerity of the violin. Their debut EP, Every Breathing Moment, can be found on both Cdbaby.com and iTunes. The EPâ€™s single, â€śBurn Outâ€ť, is a favorite among local DJs and has received frequent airplay on popular regional radio stations WBCN and WFNX. Liam is an assistant editor at Artists House Music under the guidance of Mike King and Debbie Cavalier.
