Historically the concept of ethics in the music industry has seemed like a non-sequitor. We've all heard (recently, in fact) of the lengths to which labels have gone to get their artist's music on radio stations, for example. Certainly these practices have existed in the industry since the industry began, and certainly these practices continue.
However, given the dire straights that the major labels find themselves in, we have to wonder how effective these unethical practices have been over the long run.
The goal of this site is to help artists develop long-term careers. Certainly one of the main qualities that defines great art is its longevity. Unethical behavior, axiomatically, cannot last. Eventually unethical behavior collapses like a house of cards.
In this section of the Artists House website, we present you not only with guidance on how to avoid unethical pitfalls, but also rationale that shows how operating ethically is correlated with long-term artistic success.
