This is a documentary about Bob Brookmeyer's compositional techniques. The film explores how Bob Brookmeyer composes, teaches a big band how to play his music, and gives a small bit of the history of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. The documentary includes a performance at the Missouri Theatre of Bob Brookmeyer's 2009 commissioning by the Bob Brookmeyer and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra.
