Terence Blanchard - Jazz Musician
Jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard is one of a generation of “Young Lions” who came to prominence in the 1980s playing a revitalized form of post-bop. Although his early accomplishments were eclipsed somewhat by Wynton Marsalis’ meteoric fame (Blanchard actually replaced Marsalis as a member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in 1982), Blanchard’s talent as a player and bandleader have cemented his reputation as one of the finest jazz trumpeters working today. In addition to his work as a bandleader, Blanchard has a second career as a film scorer and conductor, in particular collaborating with director Spike Lee on many of his films.
