Description:

Jeff Castelaz, president of Dangerbird Records and Cast Management, shares his thoughts on the present state and future of the music business. Although Castelaz states his optimism, other segments of the music industry aren't as optimistic, especially the major labels. The music industry raked in money during the CD boom. However, when CDs became standard and the digital problem exploded, the music industry went from a giant party to a hardcore business. Mr. Castelaz points out that there are still bands rejuvenating the music industry. Groups like Hawthorne Heights and Jimmy Eat World keep the music business alive. The difference between independent label concerns and major label worries is also discussed.
