The Future of the Industry
John Kalodner
John D. Kalodner is arguably one of the most successful and influential A&R (artist and repertory) men in the history of the music business. Starting his career in 1976 with Atlantic Records, he was responsible for bringing AC/DC as well as Genesis, Phil Collins, and Peter Gabriel to the label. From 1980 to 1994, he entered a fruitful partnership with Geffen Records that made him the man behind many of that era’s most popular and enduring hard rock and pop records. From Geffen, he moved to Sony/Columbia, and in 2003 he began a short relationship with Sanctuary records that ended with his retirement from music in 2005. Often credited on albums simply as “John Kalodner: John Kalodner,” and hailed for his trusted advice, sensitivity, and musical instincts, he has worked with and produced hits for a “who’s who” of the last three decades of rock and pop: Madonna, Aerosmith, Slayer, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Cher, White Zombie, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Genesis, Journey, Shawn Colvin, Boston, Foreigner, and many, many others. |
